Unplugged Day 1
A couple of times a year I like to unplug our t.v. and go a whole week without it. It drives me crazy the way we sometimes get so wrapped up in watching things it seems like our world revolves around the dumb t.v. I know I am the number one culprit of this especially the last few months when I was really sick we pretty much watched t.v. all day long. Now that I am feeling better the girls have had a hard time adjusting to not being able to watch it so much and finally I had it yesterday and turned it off. We did watch a movie last night with our friends we do the babysitting co-op with because the kids always get popcorn and a movie. So today was our first official day of it being off. The kids whined a few times today but luckily we had church which took up a good portion of our day. We like to try and introduce new things to them that are alternatives to t.v. so they understand that it is not a necessity. Jerame decided today's new thing would be Monopoly.
They had so much fun rolling the dice, counting money and buying properties. Here is Kennedy dancing a little jig when someone had to pay her a bunch of money.
Poor Delaney was the first one to have to go to jail and it made her a little sad but she got over it quickly. Here she is sitting in the recliner the place she decided was the jail.
They were sad when they had to clean it up because Audrey was getting up from her nap and they made Jerame promise they could play again soon. Surprisingly enough no one asked about the t.v. all afternoon. Yeah!!

I love board games! I think the no TV time sounds like a great idea :-)
We do that too. I love it. It makes for such a fun and special week, because you fill it with other things. Good luck with the rest of the week.
I totally agree 100% Some of favorite memories with my family are when we played board games. I think that's awesome! I bug my husband a lot when he has the TV on for hours, and isn't even watching it! I try to remind him, it's important to have it off and just enjoy each other and shut off media for a long while.
p.s. I didn't get to talk to you before you moved to a different ward. I hope you & the family are doing great!
Great idea! We have this jaw dropping get movies from Netflix through the Wii thing going on at our house right now. Truly amazing! MUST STOP! CAN'T STOP! JUST WANT TO WATCH!
