Olympics

I am doing some more catching up. I never got around to posting these pictures and it was to much fun not to record it. My plan for this blog is to turn it into a scrapbook of our year because I am am facing reality and I will never get caught up on my scrapbooking. Anyway we have this fabulous history program called The Story of the World by: Susan Wise Bauer. It is a chronological history that is full of great stories and fun activities. This particular week we were learning about the Greeks and how they created the first Olympic games. The girls thought it was very interesting and if you saw them the week after they learned about this they told everyone. that married women couldn't go to the first Olympic games and if they went they were put to death. This was because all of the Olympians competed naked. They thought this was very interesting and had to share it with everyone. Anyway after learning about the Olympics we had our own Olympic games in true Arizona summer fashion in our swim suits and underneath sprinklers. Ammanda my partner in crime was in charge of this weeks activities and she made it lots of fun!
Long Jump
Frisbee Throw
Crab Walk How long can you hula hoop?
Wheel Barrow Races
Audrey didn't want to be left out but as soon as her legs were in the air she did not want to have anything to do with it. Most of Audrey's time was spent hanging out under the sprinklers. The girls had such a fun time despite our 110 degree weather.

Looks like so much fun! I love History lessons. My kiddos get a kick out of ancient traditions too. Right now we are studying Ruth and Naomi in the scriptures so every time they make a deal or promise they give each other a shoe and laugh. You have to love kids! Especially kids and the word naked "TEE-HEE" I said naked.
