Fall Garden

This summer I read the book Little Men by Louisa May Alcott. It was a fabulous book full of great ideas to use in your family about raising kids. One thing that really stuck with me was that they gave each boy a part of the garden that they were in charge of. They could plant whatever they wanted and they had to take care of it. It inspired me to try an experiment and let the girls take over the garden for the fall. I let them each pick some thing that they wanted to plant and grow. They each had to water their own plants and take care of them. It was a huge success!!! They are still taking care of their own vegetables and are much more involved in it. It has been a fabulous learning experience for us all.
Delaney picked broccoli and zucchini to plant. ( I gotta say it looks a little weird for us to be in swim suits since it is now the beginning of February.)
Sydney planted peas.
Kennedy planted carrots.
The girls had to cool off when we were done it was an extra hot day.
Audrey picked tomatoes to plant but she spent most of her time taking silly pictures like this:) It was quite a fun day and it is just about time to add our spring stuff to the garden. I think we are going to do it again this year:)
